St Anthony's ward Eastbourne
Eastbourne

We are delighted to announce the Labour candidate for St Anthony’s ward is:

  • John Sailing

John Sailing

John, 34, is a local resident of St Anthony’s and father of two. He cares passionately about our parks and open spaces, accessibility and in promoting Eastbourne as a tourist and cultural destination.

John was born visually impaired and into a working-class home, so he really understands how hard it can be for families who are struggling, or face disadvantage through no fault of their own.

As a Trade Union Organiser, John deals with a lot of casework – helping to resolve issues members are having at work. He hopes to be able to use his skills and experiences here to be the voice for local people in St Anthony’s and assist them with any difficulties they have with local services.

Housing and the cost-of-living crisis are also top priorities for John who says “I’ve spoken to a lot of people who are worried about affording their rent or mortgages. Many tenants are finding that their rents are increasing more than their wages and are being forced to move as a result. Homeowners are also feeling the effects of last year’s disastrous Conservative mini-budget, which has seen mortgage rates rise”.

On your ballot paper, look for SAILING, John Mitchell Stewart, Labour

I’ve spoken to a lot of people who are worried about affording their rent or mortgages. If elected, housing and the cost of living crisis will be my top priorities. John Sailing
