Eastbourne Labour Party Women at Eastbourne Pride 2018
Eastbourne Labour Party Women at Eastbourne Pride 2018

This Saturday saw our second ever Eastbourne Pride but this one got it’s rightful name PRIDE, as opposed to the first year’s multi award winning Mardi Gras.

Eastbourne Women’s Forum joined in the procession along with 3 drumming bands, several youth groups, loads and loads of community groups, clowns, bikes and wheelchairs and families and friends and dogs. It was, of course, a colourful affair. Fantastic weather. Sun, sea, pebbles and out and out gay festivity.

We had a grand time celebrating diversity and supporting Eastbourne’s LGBT community. To think Eastbourne had no Pride 3 years ago. A huge well done to Betty Gallagher and the team. Eastbourne is a better place thanks to all your hard work.

At Prince’s Park we set up la stall courtesy of Sussex Credit Mutual Society letting us share their space (thank you Helen). Eastbourne Trades Council were 3 stalls down so we mixed it up a bit.

Rachael and Liz and Geri had been busy the week before sewing and stuffing our fundraising teddies. £70 was raised for our funds. Brilliant.

We had several people speaking to us about wanting to either join the Labour Party or, if already a member, wanting to become more active. All aboard. Apply within. We are keen to get the Labour Party message across to Eastbourne People. We are here. We are ready. Come and join us.
