| Millions of people across the region are benefitting from safer roads thanks to a record investment to fill potholes and complete road repairs.
The landmark investment – an increase of nearly 50% on local road maintenance funding from last year – goes well beyond the Government’s manifesto pledge and is enough to fix the equivalent of over 7 million extra potholes across England in 2025-26. |

Transport Secretary, Heidi Alexander, said, “Our Bus Services Bill protects vital services that people depend on to get to work, school, or essential appointments. We have taken a decisive step towards better buses, building on our £1 billion investment to improve and maintain bus services, keeping people connected, driving up living standards and growing the economy in line with our Plan for Change.”
