About your candidates
Jake Lambert
"As a local teacher, I see the impact of cuts on the young people in my classroom every day. I'll fight to get our schools the funds they need." Jake Lambert

Jake is a teacher at a local secondary school and has lived in Eastbourne for over 20 years. He lives in Old Town with his wife Louise, also a teacher, and their toddler son. He is a well known campaigner for local residents, and was Labour’s candidate for Eastbourne in the 2015 and 2017 general elections.
Jake says, “I love the community spirit of Old Town and that’s why we chose to settle our family here. But we should be doing far more to enhance and protect what is great about our area. As your councillor, I will be a strong voice for our community, standing up to protect our services and our environment, caring for the most vulnerable and offering a real alternative for residents who believe our town could and should be better.”
Sarah Richards
"I love our Old Town community. We need to keep it a safe and friendly place to live." Sarah Richards

Sarah has lived in Old Town for ten years with her husband Paul a fellow Labour activist and
their two boys. She is a language teacher and works in the language schools in the town and volunteers at a drop-in café to give English classes to women who are looking to settle in Eastbourne.
She loves the community of Old Town and wants to help keep it a safe and friendly place to
live. Her priorities are pedestrian safety on Compton Place Road. She wants the road to be
one-way between 7am-9am to make the morning walk to school safer for children. She
wants more neighbourhood police to keep an eye out and prevent the rising vandalism in
our parks and streets. She will fight to stop the cuts to our schools and care services.
Rue Franklin
"We have a responsibility to protect our environment for our lifetime and for future generations." Rue Franklin
“Hello, I am Rupert Franklin-Lester, known as Rue Franklin. I have been living in Eastbourne for 17 years. I am an active Labour supporter, socialist and I believe that everyone should have the best chance in life. In our wealthy country that means standing up for dignity and human rights so that people have decent homes; positive, safe communities; schools that are resourced for all; a health service that can deliver for our people and an economy that enables wealth whilst supporting workers. I also believe that we have a responsibility to protect our environment for our lifetime and for future generations. As a local resident, I have been a school governor for many years whilst my children were at primary school and I have been a long-term trustee of Furniture Now. I continue to be involved in local charities and I am an active local campaigner.”
